PEDULLA RAPTURE RB4/RB5
During the Absolution era, Chris's weapons of choiche were Pedulla Rapture RB basses, manufactured in the USA.
These were his main basses, especially on stage. He
has a red one, a blue one, a black one and a sunburst one. They are not custom made, as some
might think. He uses single-pickup Raptures.
"The Rapture’s got a thinner, racier design. It combines a single flatsawn
hard maple neck and a solid soft Eastern maple body, providing a classic sound
enhanced by a smooth midrange and a bright high-end"
"Specially tailored active electronics bring out the Rapture’s unique
tonal range. The single pickup Rapture (RB-SB) include a master volume, and
separate bass and treble control knobs (boost/cut +/-15db) which complete
flexibility in shaping the sound. A mid-cut switch accentuates the Rapture bass’
gut shaking sub-bottom while emphasizing high-end clarity and growl and
delivering vintage punch with an extra wide attack"
His favourite one is the black Pedulla. It's got a single, soapbar-style pickup (Chris likes it because of its twangier sound). Here is a pic of Chris with his black Pedulla RB: this bass was his main one during the Absolution tour. Once, he smashed it so hard that one of the tuning machines broke along with the hole in the headstock. He had to put the new one on the lower side of the headstock. You can see the empty hole in the picture.
